Statement of Faith and Our History

Welcome! We are glad you are here!

HOW OUR CHURCH IS ORGANIZED:

Strawberry Chapel is not affiliated with any denomination. We organize ourselves first by the guidelines of Scripture and our present needs. We recognize that Jesus Christ is the Head of the church. In our fellowship, the administrative responsibilities fall primarily on elder leadership. These men are chosen from the church body and meet once a month to discuss church needs.

Various committees are vital to the structure and ministry of the church. The volunteers serve to keep the church spiritually and physically alive, healthy, and growing.

THE PURPOSE OF OUR CHURCH

The Bible teaches God's Purpose for His church is to worship and glorify HIM with lives that are obedient and surrendered to HIS will. We are to worship HIM all through the week with our actions, thoughts, and words, not just on Sundays.

The Bible tells us the early church's activities, "And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer."

(Acts 2:42)

We also are committed to sharing the good news of HIS love to the world through the death and resurrection of HIS Son, JESUS!

(Matthew 28:19)

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT:

Strawberry Chapel is a non-denominational, Bible believing church. We are governed by a Board of Elders, a small group of godly men who shepherd the flock, guard the truth, and oversee the work of the ministry, because the goal of the church leadership is to conform its people to the image of Jesus Christ.

(1 Tim.3:17) (Titus 1:6-9)

As a Biblical fundamental church, we believe and teach the Biblical gospel of Jesus Christ; we look to the Bible only as our absolute authority and we are open to being corrected by it.  We also believe that the Bible alone is Scripture and is the inerrant Word of God.

At Strawberry Chapel, we believe in the One, True God of the Bible; the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, and besides HIM there are no gods.

(Isa 42:8; 43:10-13)

We also believe and teach that our great God consists of 3 persons:

1.) the FATHER, who has always existed, is, and always will be GOD.

(Gen 35:10-12, Ex. 6:6-7, Duet 7:6-9,

John 17, 1Cor 8:6, 2 Cor 2:13, Phil 2:11,

Col 1:3, 1 Peter 1:2)

2.) the SON, who always existed, is and always will be God.

(John 1:1-3, Isa 9:6, Zech 12:10, Micah 5:2,

Col 1:12-14, Heb 1:8-10)

3.) the HOLY SPIRIT, who always existed, is and always will be God

(Matt 28:18-26, Rom 8:9-11, Rom 15:30,

2 Cor 13:14, Eph 4:30)

We believe and teach the one, true Biblical gospel of GOD's grace, the gospel according to Jesus Christ, which God offers as sinful mankind's only means to salvation. it has three basic elements:

1.) Who is Jesus Christ?

He is Almighty God who took on flesh. He is perfect, sinless, and the only person qualified to be man's Savior.

(Isa 44:6-8, Rev 4:8)

2.) Who am I?

I am a hopeless sinner condemned to everlasting torment in the Lake of Fire, incapable of doing anything to save myself.

(Rom 2:5-6, Rom 3:21-31, Rev 20:11-15,

Heb 10:26 + 29)

3.) What did Jesus Christ's death on the cross accomplish?

Jesus' death paid the penalty in full for man's sin.

(Rom 8:1-4, Heb 10:10-14)

Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."

(John 3:3-6)

OUR CHURCH HISTORY:

In 1965, a retired American Sunday School Union Worker, George Mowry, moved to Strawberry and saw the need for a church as there were none in town. A few families came together and met on a cement slab (with a roof added later) which became the first meeting place for the church. Then in 1966, a retired pastor, Rev. Leo Kirley and his wife, Bertha, moved to Strawberry, and he became the Chapel's first pastor.  Two lots were purchased where the Chapel now stands and a log-sided church was built. Rev. Kirley pastored until April of 1982.

Pastor Carl Weide came to serve at the church in May of 1982 along

with his wife, Louanne, and children,

Anna (4) and Aaron (2). They lived in a single wide mobile home that was put in between the church and the fire station. The Lord made available for sale, the lots behind the church and in 1889, a manufactured home was put in for Pastor Carl and his family. In 1995, construction on the church began for a new fellowship hall, kitchen, and bathrooms. Then in 1996, the new sanctuary was built and dedicated to the Lord. Pastor Carl faithfully served Strawberry Chapel until 2022.

Even though the history of our church is important, what is really exciting, is the here and now.  How has God been working lately? Big things are going on in Strawberry.

Elder, Mark Fumusa asked Dan Berryman, a newer local Missionary and owner of Windmill Coffee to consider being the Pastor.  God had already been working on Dan's heart, and he was prepared that if he was asked he would say Yes!

Dan Berryman and his wife, Marina came onboard in January of 2022. Their Burundi, Africa Missionary and Hospitality backgrounds have brought new energy into the church for outreach.

We currently have many outreach programs and events going on.

One of the most popular is The Strawberry Food Pantry started in June of 2025. It is a Free Food Ministry for our community. Opened weekly to the public.

All are Welcome.

There is always something good going on at Strawberry Chapel. Stop by and see how you can get involved in serving Jesus and others. We have a seat for you.
